D&D
Confluence Campaign Epilogue
The Fate of the Party
-
The party defeats Fraz Urb'luu in his plane of the Abyss. Upon his death, the illusionary landscape transforms into its true form: a withered and rotted tower infected by Yog-Sothoth, who sought to disrupt Fraz's vies for power.
-
In order to gather the strength to defeat Fraz Urb'luu, the party unlocked dooming powers within themselves, through the aid of Xynera.
-
When the party returned to the material plane, they stumbled upon Ginxin, Duke of Lakeside. They killed him and left no witnesses.
-
After this, the party sought to clean up one more loose end: Dendar. They had promised the paladin Oscar that they would return one day to slay the serpent, and Aurrin knew the party's life of sentience was limited. They slayed Dendar, preventing an apocalyptic fate for the world.
-
With each passing day, each member became less resilient to their doom. Eventually each succummed:
-
Balin became a powerful mage, obsessed with power. He embraced biomancy, replacing his brain with that of the demon lord Baphomet. This revolutionized biomancy, but also corrupted him further. He lost all empathy. He massacred thousands by accident and thousands more through experimentation. He founded Balin's Academy of Biomancy, which was praised for its advancement of magic just as it was infamous for its abuse of life.
-
Bog was driven to a primal form due to his fusion with Baphomet. He followed his instincts and returned to the Gladiator Plains to fight and eat for the rest of his days as the champion of the Beastial Arena. With his might, minotaurs were allowed back into the Plains.
-
3-DN became corrupted by his nature as a weapon of war for the Lord of Blades. He carved his way through hundreds of innocents in his voyage to recover the Lord of Blades, who was lost to time centuries ago. But a lost mentor followed him in secret: Gaybar. Gaybar managed to restrain 3-DN and reprogram his core, removing his killer instincts. Together they worked towards fixing other Warforged and built a monastery where they could live in peace.
-
Rhys was driven mad by Tharizdun's Sword. He sought to slay more demons and ventured back to Artoria, but not before murdering Woody and the Woodpeckers, thinking them demons. He slaughtered the demons in Artoria, too, then gathered knights to venture deep into the sea to slay abyssal sea creatures still lose from the Fallen Sword Sea. Him and his men walk along the sea floor, slowly becoming sea creatures themselves.
-
Aurrin's glimpse into Yog-Sothoth mind made him a powerful seer. He returned to the Weston#Grand Golden Library to document his knowledge of the future. But as a division of the library rose to challenge his dubious claims of the future, he receded further inward, seeking greater clarity from Yog-Sothoth. And, indeed, he gained a greater understanding of the future. But there came a communion with Yog-Sothoth from which Aurrin never awoke. He lives, now, confined within his mind, glimpsing eons into the future. He is doomed to watch all the worlds crumble to dust, be born again, crumble to dust, be born again...
-
But, every so often, by the power of Ogre Maloney, astral forms of the five brothers are joined together at the Great Hole of Riverfold to dig together with their one true god. They laugh, they dig, they feast, and, inevitably, return to their doomed fates, chosen in service of the world.
-
The Cold North
-
Trin's form corrupted further. Uan found a way to satiate the growing mass that once was Trin by feeding it mindless undead. With the death of Fraz, Trin's grotesque form eventually reached an equilibrium. The body that remained was an amalgamation of rotted undead, with dozens of faces and breasts for feeding new undeadborn offspring.
-
Seraphina, the Angel gave birth to triplets: the first three Undeadborn. With them came a hunger that Seraphina, the Angel could not satisfy. Her and Uan turned to Trin for sustenance. Trin, once a mother to five wonderful orphan children (the party), was happy to provide. Uan continues to care for the undead and has named his little enclave the Hibernacle of Creation.
-
Several decades pass and Uan's children grow old enough to manage the Hibernacle of Creation themselves. He leaves them to lead, and answers his call in Bellpor, for his half-brother has just been assassinated.
Olinar and the Bellpor Heir
-
Olinar and Kalameed venture back to Bellpor to reclaim the throne. They barely manage to gain control, but the merchant guilds are unhappy. Citizens are divided too, as they fail to see Kalameed as the rightful heir given his bastard blood. The merchants plan a coup and, as two sour decades pass under Kalameed's rule, the heir is assassinated. The oligarchs take control of Bellpor.
-
In time, Uan sows the seeds of his favor into the people of Bellpor. Rather than coming for the throne directly, he builds the city up from beneath. Through underground movements, he raises the homeless out of poverty and creates a thriving biome of maggots in the once overcrowded sewers. The homeless are employed as maggot farmers and use their wealth to strengthen the lower class. By leveraging the very class he helped build up, Uan announces his presence in the city and reclaims the throne. He rules as a just, albeit strange, ruler. A massive statue of shit is erected in his honor deep beneath the city. It is said that in the belly of the sewers, a cult worships him and his maggots.
Riverfold
-
After the battle at Riverfold, much of the city was destroyed. But, in the center of town, a hole remained. The Great Hole of Riverfold became a beacon of hope for people, and from its depths the people rebuilt, living as hole people. Eventually they dug too deep: the water from the rivers caved in from the sides and the ground beneath their feet gave way to the underdark. All lives were lost. But the memory of the hole lives on. It is said that those who travel down the hole can still hear the harmonious sounds of pious people digging happily. It is also said that over a dozen people die each year falling into the Great Hole of Riverfold, which remains unmarked and void of guard rails.
-
Dill, father of babe, returns home after the battle with Fraz and lives off disability checks. Just before the city collapses, he uses his meager wealth to venture east to East Darim, to start a new life with his family. Unfortunately, things remain rocky with his relationship. Him and his wife eventually separate. It was temporary at first, but it becomes permanent after a stranger barges into his ex-wife's apartment and threatens his wife on his behalf.
-
Gun Wizard 3 opens a gun store in Riverfold. But it eventually closes after an accident at a shooting range leaves twelve children dead. He contends that the children were not following guidelines, but many believe that he was drunk while supervising them.
Goldcrest
- Prince Deon was executed by Princess Solaire first hand. But the act of executing her brother sparked change in her. She had promised him that the people of Riverfold would be spared, yet the Dragonmade Kingsguard were ordered by King Pelorson to burn them all at the stake for their treason. She defied her father's orders and commanded her army to return home. Those who deified her were executed. She returned home and began a long journey to challenge her father's rule. As decades past, she restored the honor of Goldcrest. But as she reached her later years, she fell ill with an affliction. It revealed itself to be a transformation. Solaire was born by a heretical act and her body was infused with that of a dragon. Wings sprouted from her back, a dragon mouth extended from her lips, and claws grew from her hands. Still, she retained her humanity, and ruled Goldcrest.
Ectis
- With Seraph voyaging in the Shadowfeld, Moros became bishop of Ectis. He ruled well, and with his new power his bloodlust for undead weakened. He remained in Ectis, only slaying undead who sought him out there. He also pushed for further progress with biomancy, leading to greater adoption of undead biomancy.
Hellside
-
Shlamk's rat spa opened to resounding success. The fentanyl addicted population loved the sensation of a dozen rats massaging their body, and with money and tourism flowing into the town from addicts seeking suppliers, business was booming.
-
The mayor continues to hire hypothetical deputies to deal with the hypothetical fentanyl epidemic, but he fails to hypothetically stop it. A decade later a bullywug strolls into town with a big iron on his hip. He promises to be a greater mayor and challenges the mariff to a quick draw. The mariff has his brains hypothetically splattered across the old dusty hellside road and his guts are hypothetically eaten by fentanyl addicts. The Bullywug becomes mariff and cracks down on the fentanyl epidemic. He keeps it isolated to the rat spas, transforming it into a sort of red light district.
Snuff and Double Blind Billy
- In the aftermath of it all, Snuff and Double Blind Billy became good friends, bonding over their disabilities. Together they voyaged across the world, picking up a kenku along the way. It is said they ventured to East Darim and entangled with a party there, but the details are foggy. What is known is that Snuff became a renowned blacksmith, as talented at his craft as he was grateful for it. And Billy learned to see the world's beauty through a new lens.
Skribbles and Ratcheska
Skribbles and Ratcheska broke up after the police revealed that Skribbles had been using and supplying illegal love potions. She carried his rat child, but fled south to an oasis in the desert: Hellside. There she found her happily ever after with a man who loved her rat baby as if it were his own. In fact, he seemed happier with it than their human baby that came several years later.
Mirt, the Merchant
- Mirt grows tired of West Darim and travels east to East Darim. There he finds a new boy to serve as his apprentice, and new suckers to con.
The Underdark
-
With the duergar leader Norgrim Deep slain by the party, the gnomes of the underdark are able to return to a festive and cheerful way of life. They erect statues of what they think the party looked like.
-
The Kua-Toa Farjar is inspired by the party's heroic deeds and ventures to land to be a hero. He travels on a six legged mule (one he claims is a wizard who somehow polymorphed himself) saving townsfolk.
-
The hobgoblin stronghold is left in shambles as its leader was assassinated by the party and cultists invaded. They all die. They manage a living in undeath, finally embracing their sexuality with their masculine egos demolished by the fate of their stronghold.
